Astra Mini S is a bare 3D module (no productive housing) released by Orbbec towards our customers who want to build their standalone product. Astra Mini S is optimized for short-range use cases,

Astra Mini S now comes in a bundle with the powerful gestural Interaction SDK by Gestoos. Gestoos let’s you develop and enhance applications with gestural interaction in C++, Java and Processing.

Caution - Handle the Module with Care

You are aware of that Astra Mini S is not a fully assembled 3D camera but only an unprotected 3D module that should be handled with care. Orbbec will not be responsible for damage caused by shipping, falling, false handling, insufficient power supply (5V) and other damage caused in your R&D progress.
The following activities are mostly like to damage the module:
Unexpected External Force - may deform the aluminum chassis thus set the calibration to invalid. Please try to use the positioning hole on the chassis.
Insufficient Power Supply - may burn the flash thus causing Firmware damage. Please make sure the power supply to the module is 5V.
Overheat - may cause permanent deformation on the lens thus set the calibration to invalid. Please make sure your setup provides enough cooling.

Advanced Features (Astra Mini S Only):

Factroy Calibrated IR/RGB cameras - Users of Astra Mini S can read calibration matrix of the IR and RGB camera through the FW. The matrix can be used on RGBD registration and other post processing purpose.
IR Flood - An IR Flood can be mounted to the Astra Mini S to provide clear IR image (No projected dots). Advanced users can use these clear IR images on edge detection and other purpose.
